Chocolate
Festival 2009: Sandy
Warner was asked if she would accept the Chairmanship of the Chocolate Festival
Committee for 2009. She accepted and
was approved unanimously. Her dues
for 2008-09 will be considered paid for her services.
Discussion followed regarding the dates when the festival should be held.
Presidents Day is the February 16th.
It was decided the dates should be Saturday, February 14th
(Valentine’s Day) and Sunday February 15th.
It was discussed and decided that the venue should be the same as the
first year; the convention center at the City office complex.
Jackie will check with the town regarding the rental of the convention
center. It was also felt we should
buy our own chocolate machines and every vendor must have chocolate.
It was suggested we contact See’s Candy, Utah Truffles and Bluebird
Chocolates. Frank has been contacted
by a person wanting to make hand-made chocolates.
Also it was felt that the chocolate forest should be reconsidered and
kept at the same venue as the rest of the Festival.
Nominating
Committee: We
will need a completely new slate of officers for 2008-09.
Frank Smith volunteered to chair this committee.
Discussion was had regarding having a membership drive after our meeting
in October.
Chamber
Meetings were discussed regarding the best time for meetings (pre-work or noon),
if we should serve food at the meetings to get members to attend.
Judy suggested that we get guest speakers for our meetings and mentioned
John Aslet who speaks all over the U.S. He
would probably attend one of our meetings, and comes from Pocatello.
Commuter
Bus: Judy
reported that the tires on the bus had been slashed – nobody knows who did it.
Ray indicated he has Ukranian employees and he is providing housing for
them now. Brandon Cook at Hometown
has employees that use the bus and also Bear Trapper has 10 employees.
KOA is also using this service.
